From Medical Training in Germany to Cardiovascular Work in Shanghai

Ge earned a medical doctorate at the University of Mainz in Germany in 1993. His Fudan biography traces his cardiovascular clinical and research work to 1987, with interests in how coronary disease develops, how it is detected and how treatment can be refined.

Fudan’s May 2026 report identifies him as Zhongshan Hospital’s cardiology director and a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. These roles place his clinical work within a major teaching and research hospital.

Coronary Intervention and Heart Valve Procedures

The coronary arteries supply blood to the heart muscle. Ge’s research interests include disease in these arteries, while his clinical teaching also covers the development of catheter-based procedures and heart valve treatment.

A May 2026 Fudan account describes his discussion of coronary intervention and transcatheter aortic valve replacement, commonly called TAVR. These are distinct areas of cardiovascular practice; a records review should be matched to the particular diagnosis or proposed procedure.

In the same account, Ge leads Zhongshan’s cardiology teaching team for Fudan medical students. The course connects cardiovascular structure and function with diagnosis and the evolution of treatments.

The report also describes his emphasis on considering the patient as a whole, including how vascular disease can involve the heart, brain, kidneys and peripheral circulation. It offers a view of the clinical thinking behind the teaching program.

Heart-Failure Research Alongside the Wider Team

A July 2026 Fudan report announced a national science and technology award for a Zhongshan heart-failure project led by Sun Aijun, with Ge’s guidance and participation. The project investigated disease mechanisms, risk recognition and diagnostic and treatment technologies.

The achievement belongs to the wider research team. It illustrates the connection between laboratory science and cardiovascular clinical questions at Zhongshan, rather than an individual patient outcome.

Written Second Opinions on Cardiovascular Care

A patient considering a second opinion can identify the decision they want reviewed—for example, the interpretation of existing tests or a proposed intervention. Suitability depends on the records, the specific field of expertise and provider acceptance.

China Heal Plus confirms the proposed specialist and written report scope for each accepted request. Public information about Ge’s work does not establish a partnership or guarantee an appointment with him.
